The Cia. PIA – Projectos de Intervenção Artística, was founded in May of 2002, in Pinhal Novo Village (Portugal),result of a meeting between artists of different areas, which led the project to what now we know as an cultural platform open to the artistic creation, experimentation and innovation, capable of hosting a creative team and embrace it diversity of cultural projects. With a strong focus on the Street Arts Universe,, PIA has its roots ... ... on the physical theater, where the body, movement and feeling are the basic tools of expression and communication; ..on the popular culture, that in its multiplicity of genres, drinks of the memory of our festive people, their rituals and celebrations, their identities; ... on the plastic and poetic intervention, adapting the body of the creations to the architecture surrounding, making them part of the occupied places. ... on the street as "stage" for excellence, non-conventional and public space, that allows the proximity and accessibility of public to art, making the work accessible to any citizen of the world, regardless of social, racial or religious division. It is since 2007 that the PIA includes, as a partner, the programming team and production of the FIG - International Festival of Giants (Portugal), an unprecedented festival of animated traditional forms, a cross between traditional arts and the most contemporary artistic expressions. Responsible for Art Direction of the Event "Street Science", organized by Centro Ciência Viva de Estremoz, PIA contributes to a unique event that unites art and science, that focus on the development of working relationships between artists and scientists from different areas, leading to the creation of spaces for testing and experimentation of new creative processes, that annually takes place, on the historic streets of Estremoz (Portugal). With 9 years of existence, PIA’s work is fundamentally marked by the several projects, that more than 30 artists and technicians, gave life with their excellent work, contributing for making them pass from the sketch to the reality. These performative projects have gone through various lands in Europe, Asia and South America, and it was these more than 100 different national and international regions that have contributed and influenced strongly the continuous growth and consolidation of this group.
