The Cia. PIA – Projectos de Intervenção Artística, was founded in May of 2002, in Pinhal Novo Village (Portugal), result of a meeting between artists of different arts areas that carried the huge demographic and urbanistic development of this community in the last few decades. Concerned with the necessities of this population, their main is to create cultural projects for performative arts, looking for to initiate a conscience process of this local community for their cultural necessities and expectations. A professional company was formed, developing its work in the street performance arts area, carrying through its proper creations and productions. The gigantism always was its major bet, having as consequence a bigger dedication to create distinct personages in stilts and scenes. This fact allowed the creation of performances and spectacles that are visible to a bigger number of spectators. The street it’s the privilege stage of this company, betting in the intervention on public and non-conventional spaces, adapting the several creations to the surround environments.
